Position 1: National Consultant To Develop Gender Mainstreaming Strategy And Toolkits For The House Of Peoples’ Representatives (HoPR)

Duties And Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the WILG Program Specialist and in close collaboration with Women, Children and Youth Affairs Directorate of the Secretariat and the Women’s Caucus of the Parliament, the consultants will be responsible to the below tasks:

  • Conduct an assessment and desk review of existing relevant documents, including a gender audit of the Parliament and the secretariat.
  • Conduct preliminary consultations with the Women, Children and Youth Affairs Directorate of the Secretariat, the Women’s Caucus of the Parliament, and UN Women to develop an inception report containing background, methodology, and an outline of both the strategy and toolkit.
  • Submit a draft inception report, incorporate input from the HoPR and UN Women, and finalize the inception report.
  • Develop a draft strategy, present it, collect feedback from the HoPR and UN Women, and incorporate comments. Then, submit the final toolkit for review.
  • Develop a draft toolkit, present it during a validation workshop, incorporate feedback from UN Women and HoPR, pilot the content of the toolkit, incorporate findings, and submit the final toolkit for review.
  • Incorporate comments from the final review and submit the final strategy and toolkit.

  • Previous working experience with the parliament is an asset.
  • Proven experience in leading and facilitating workshops.

Position 2: Assessment Of The Gender Data And Capacity Gaps At The African Union

  • Compile an integrated matrix of existing gender indicator and reporting frameworks at the AU;
  • Review these frameworks and related documentation and interview relevant individuals to identify the gender data and capacity gaps;
  • Identify the most likely data sources that should be strengthened or introduced in order to address the data gaps (both survey and administrative data sources);
  • Identify the areas of gender statistics that should be strengthened or introduced in order to address the data gaps;
  • Identify the capacity gaps of relevant AU departments and officials and recommend appropriate capacity building interventions.

Deliverables:

  • Inception report detailing the approach that will be used for the assessment;
  • A report which documents the key findings and recommendations of the assessment;
  • A draft PowerPoint presentation that summarizes the method, main findings and recommendations of the assessment.

Position 3: Internship – Partnership And Resource Mobilization Intern Internship NEW

Duties And Responsibilities

With guidance and overall supervision of the Special Representative to AU and UNECA, and under close supervision from the Liaison Specialist, the Intern is expected to undertake the following tasks:

  • Support to analyze the strategic partnership related opportunities in line with the Liaison office priorities for partnership development and develop brief materials to use for preparations for meetings with potential partners
  • Monitor the Liaison Office’s donor reporting commitments, follow up and alerting on upcoming deadlines and provide support to review and quality assurance of narrative donor reporting
  • Analyze and maintain donor information and databases
  • Monitor updating of pipeline into Leads system and provide details to supervisor.
  • Provide inputs to resource mobilization strategies
  • Undertakes ad-hoc donor studies (donor policies, sectoral and geographic preferences, economic and political background, development assistance strategies etc.), research and other activities to identify funding opportunities

Position 5: Internship – Coordination Intern

Duties and Responsibilities
